Interstellar Reflections (2024)
Acrylic on Canvas
25” x 40”
This painting is an exploration of identity, duality, and the infinite facets of self-perception. At its core are black-and-white, female faces, each a reflection of the same person, yet existing as distinct variations. These faces are suspended in a universe of vibrant, abstract celestial shapes and colors, creating a striking contrast between the tangible and the ethereal.
The monochromatic faces symbolize clarity and constancy, a grounding force amidst the chaos of life. Yet, like reflections in a fractured mirror, they shift and multiply, hinting at the complexity of identity, how we see ourselves and how we are seen by others. The surrounding celestial forms represent the vastness of the universe, both external and internal, where colors and shapes blur the lines between reality and imagination. They evoke the mystery and beauty of self-discovery, as if the reflections are drifting through an endless cosmos of thought, memory, and emotion.
The title Interstellar Reflections speaks to the way our identities are shaped by the world around us, as well as the infinite universe within. It is a reminder that, like the stars in the night sky, we are both part of something immense and uniquely individual. Through this piece, I wanted to capture the tension and harmony between order and chaos, realism and abstraction, stillness and motion, and how those elements coexist within each of us.
This painting invites viewers to pause and reflect, not just on the faces before them, but on their own identities, their own infinite reflections in the ever-shifting cosmos of life.
