Root Chakra (2024)
Oil on Canvas
24” x 30”
This painting is a meditation on the intersection of the physical and the spiritual, the tangible and the energetic. Centered around the root chakra, it reveals the layered anatomy of the human body, bones, muscles, skin, and the labia while simultaneously radiating the unseen energy of the aura. In this merging of scientific precision and spiritual symbolism, the piece seeks to dissolve the boundary between the material body and the emotional self, presenting them as one interconnected reality.
The root chakra, located at the base of the spine, is the foundation of stability, survival, and primal energy. It governs our sense of security, grounding us in the physical world while connecting us to something deeper. By visually exposing both the internal structures of the body and the energetic force they hold, this piece invites contemplation on the ways in which our physical form and emotional experiences are inextricably linked.
Through oil paint, I explore the richness of flesh, the depth of bone, and the vibrancy of aura, using color and texture to illustrate the duality of seen and unseen forces. This painting exists as both an anatomical study and a spiritual revelation, a fusion of worlds that are often viewed as separate, yet in truth, are one and the same.
Root Chakra challenges the viewer to see the body not just as a biological vessel, but as an energy field, a convergence of structure and sensation, science and soul. It is a reminder that our physical form is not merely a machine, but a living, breathing manifestation of the unseen forces that shape our existence.
