Starseeker (2024)
Acrylic on Canvas
24” x 36”
This painting is a surreal exploration of disorientation, and the blending of organic and geometric worlds. At the center sits a green glittering figure, a shimmering, earthy presence that grounds the celestial composition. She is both a part of her environment and distinct from it, embodying the harmony and tension between the natural and the constructed.
Surrounding her is a sea of fragmented checkerboard patterns, spider webs, plants, and cosmic spaces. The boundaries between foreground and background dissolve as these elements intertwine, creating a layered and immersive space. The viewer is invited to step into the painting, only to feel untethered, lost in a realm where perspective constantly shifts, and the familiar transforms into the abstract.
The palette of green, pink, blue, and lavender enhances this disorienting effect. The green, vibrant and alive, represents growth and nature, while pink adds an ethereal, dreamlike quality. Blue and lavender bring depth, calmness, and mystery, tying the piece to the infinite expanse of space. Together, these colors create a dynamic interplay of warmth and coolness, life and stillness, guiding the viewer’s eye across the painting while heightening its surreal energy.
This piece explores the idea of coexistence, organic forms meet geometric structures, grounded elements meet the weightlessness of space. The glittering figure stands as a symbol of transformation and adaptation, embracing this convergence of opposites. Through Starseeker, I invite the viewer to lose themselves in the in-between spaces, to question where they stand, and to revel in the beauty of uncertainty.
